There are many short term effects that arise from playing video games. When children play a video game, all they do is sit in one place for hours at a time, as a result they do not get exercise. The time spent playing also offsets the study time which can develop bad study habits and that they will also become tired the next day. This in turn, makes them less likely to learn and do well on tests. Children may develop resentment towards their own parents. This may cause them not to trust their parents.
Long term effects also occur. The eye sight of the kids may worsen, because they are starring at a television screen for several hours. A consequence may be that the kid will have to get a pair of glasses. Kids may become compulsive buyers. They will want to buy all the newest video games; this in turn will cause them to spend more and more money on games. Kids may also become more prone to do violent acts, because they are playing games that are violent.
Kids playing video games may be harmful to them. The harmful effects will be either short or long term. Several of the short term effects are that kids do not get a sufficient amount of exercise, fall a sleep in school, acquire bad study habits, and may feel some form of resentful towards their parents. They can also cause several long term effects on kids. Some of which are that they can not see as well, may want to socialize less with others, turn into compulsive buyers and may become more violent.
