Better Hardcore Console?

( 2 Votes ) As we all know, the console wars is the eternal battle of the fanboys and titans of business, however in the midst of it all is the truth. The holy grail of opinion of which is better, that might be a rather difficult path because it requires a being so neutral, that his opinion just might be wrong.

On one corner a console commonly regarded by many people as the "black monolith from space" the playstation 3, a console that's designed simply to bash through technological barriers. The cell processor, designed like the hive mind of the zerg and the strength of the Hulk, it's an unrivaled piece of technology while having the storage capacity of the mystical "Blu-Ray" a player designed to replace the obsolete DVD.. Released in November 11, 2006 with the elitist price of 700$ it was nearly a failure. However 3 years later the price is a reasonable 300$ and SONY is making a fair amount of profit compared to before.

On the other corner a console designed to be everyone's machine the xbox360, it's technological advancement from 2005 is a shear pound for pound of the ps3. While many people say it's only "3" cores most people don't realize the technology of hyper-threading which allows for a second set of virtual cores. This allows for a slight increase in performance but still, it lacks the horsepower of the Godzilla cell. It's DVD player is also obsolete. But if it was so weak, what made it so popular? The simple answer has to do with the people who make the games themselves. The developers tend to favor Microsoft's xbox 360 for one simple reason, it's extremely easy to develop compared to the ps3, which some compare to trying to put together a radio without instructions.

3 years later, the battle still wages on, with no clear winner. However with the new price drop and exclusives a shadow seems to hang over the hill of victory. The Playstation 3, is becoming extremely affordable and a much better value to many. It's larger hard drive and blu ray player is just one of the reasons. Besides that features like free online capabilities also gain favor to the many new age gamers who simply do not want to pay for xbox live. "But wait FoxCompany! Playstation network is laggy the last time I looked.", Exactly, last time. The playstation network has recently gone over many revisions and slowly turning into a chariot of fire being ridden by Kratos the god of war...what? The analyze of features also conclude that the ps3 also has built in Wifi and true 1080p gaming capabilities, compared to the xbox360's limited 720p upgraded to 1080, which is simply not a high quality product. You know, I think it's easier to simply list the features the ps3 has that the 360 does not have.

• Built in wifi

• Wireless remote regardless of versions

Okay cool the ps3 is hands down on the bang for bucks, but what about games? That's where, it slows down, but still moving forward. The ultimate issue with the playstation 3 is the lack of developers to take full use of the ps3's cell capabilities, the only one to do so as of now is Naughty Dog's Uncharted 2, which claims to use up to 90 to 100% of the cell's processor.

Besides that, developers simply do not like the PS3's development cost, it's extremely hard to program the processors and requires talented people which equals money. But, it's getting there, while the ps3 lacks the many mainstream titles, it contains a ton of blockbuster titles such as Killzone 2 and Uncharted series.

As far as this article goes today, the future is leaning towards the ps3 and Microsoft is well aware of that, which is why it cut the elite price by 50$. Even then however the ps3 is a far better price in terms of long term usage, as the xbox live will simply take back the 50 dollars you tried to save in the long run, or the accessories you'll be missing when you get the arcade such as hard drive and wifi will add up to 150$+. Adding the fact that the RROD is a affliction which affects many 360 owners of today, while the ps3 has a less than 1% chance of failure compared to the 33% (1/3) of the xbox360.The conclusion? Playstation 3 is the real deal as of 2009 and has gone a long way to prove it's worth to the consumer market in America. If neocrisis had a rating system i'd give it a apocalyptic deal.
