The Raging War - Fanboyism

( 7 Votes ) In today’s gaming community the console wars have shifted from not only Microsoft’s and Sony’s loathing of each other, but to fanboys taking the war to forums, threads, and the comments on articles.

The problem is not a person favoring one console over the other, but one’s apparent lack of humility. Does the 360 have some great games? Yes, it does. Does the PS3 also have some truly great games as well? The answer of course is, yes. I’ve seen people dog Gears of War, and they are the very same people that secretly envy 360 owners for having it.

Their just pissed that they can’t play it. The same could be said of the 360 owners that seriously say that Uncharted 2: Among Thieves doesn’t really look all that hot. The exact same 360 owners that sit behind their computers salivating at the mouth, reading all the metacritic scores it has received.

These people are more than just mere fanboys . They are ruining the industry. Instead of just playing these two amazing games and admiring the hard work and dedication that went into crafting these stellar titles by BOTH epic and Naughty Dog they’ll blindly follow Sony and Microsoft into the trenches, not knowing what they are missing out on.

You’ve done it, I’ve done it, Hell we’ve all done it, but just like an addict we must learn to stop. We must learn to take off our blindfolds and release ourselves of their oppression. Because in all likely hoods if Sony or Microsoft would actually win the war, we would all be left out in the cold. We would be forced into playing whatever the King of consoles deemed necessary.

It may sound strange, but winning isn’t in the best interest of any of us. What does winning mean to us anyway, just the right to say the position we defended the right position to defend? All for the console war winner to dash our dreams, and relegate gamers into playing titles like Leisure Suit Larry Box Office Bust and Gundam: Dynasty Warriors (in other words garbage).

Competition makes the world turn round. It is what drives the industry forward, and it is also why we are able to play such amazing games. So, the next time you’re about to post some “your game sucks” comment just remember it’s because of that game and the competitive nature of this industry that you are able to play the games you enjoy. So play nice, or else we all lose
