NPD September Predictions

We are expecting for some interesting hardware numbers to come out. However, this could also be the PS3's first chance to take over the 360's second place for the first time in a year and a half (at least when it comes to monthly sales). If they didn't, expect for them to be very, VERY close.
Here's what I expect the NPD results to show:
- This is a given: If a system has the brand name of Nintendo on it, you'll look like a million bucks, as always. It prints money, indeed.
- The spot where it'll get interesting is where the PS3/360 battle goes this month. This is the first full month of the Slim and price cut, and with how well the system has been going, expect for this to be rather close if the PS3 hasn't overtaken the 360 for September. This is a huge possibility for the PS3. If they didn't, then they definitely got the best selling system with their brand name on it, and would overtake the PSP and the PS2.
- Speaking of the PS2, expect that to be falling despite Sony trying to squeeze as much more life out of it as they can get with the claims of no BC reappearing in the PS3s despite evidence about it possibly coming back saying otherwise. The people are not being stupid here, and it's only a matter of time before Sony has to bring up the possibility once more. The hardware is there for BC to happen in the PS3. They just need the firmware to come that unlocks it.
- The wild card seems to be the PSP Go. Despite the press being down about the system, the people seem to not agree, and some gamers were getting sick of seeing the negative press from people about the Go. Who will the NPD figures silence. Once more, this is the wild card that could be the surprise of the month, one way or another (yes, it would beat the PS3's possible surprise, because we'd be surprised if the 360 put up a huge lead over the PS3 for this month).
- Finally, it'll be a hardware kind of month. No huge software releases for September that we can think of. The software month would be for October. Uncharted 2, will take the lead for October, it may be Brutal Legends. But for Sept. not much came out.
So, let me know what you think about what is going to be shown on Monday. What do you expect to see? How many fanboy wars will happen as a result? What will the PRs say?

There was this game called Halo 3 ODST that happened to sell 2.2 million units on its release day. Just saying.
I'll be surprised if the PSP go sells more than 150.000 units.

Seriously? You call HALO ODST a "major software title"? Typical 360 mentality that if it has HALO in the name it has to be huge.
It was an overpriced $60, few hour campaign that 2,600,000 stupid people bought and got ripped off by MS. Now thanks to those idiots, MS knows they can get away with any crap game and be lazy as long as HALO is thrown in the title.
Even my roommate who just thinks the 360 dominates the PS3 didn't even think ODST was worth it. 2009 must have blown for 360, really no major games at all.

U gotta be the dumbest dude on any comments section on any site. The reason ODST was and is now a major software title is because of its 2.2 mil sold in week one. This page is about NPD, meaning that were talking about sales. Thats what we mean by major software title. Name ONE PS3 game that sold faster!!
Dont call us stupid cause we bought the game. If you dont like ODST then thats fine, but dont bash the game's success and dont bash us for buying it. And also, your roommate liking 360 over ps3 should have nothing to do with his judgement o ODST. I HATE HATERS. JUST GAME ON AND GO!!! BTW, (advertisement) buy Uncharted 2. One of the best games ive played.

Can you be anymore biased? I see the words Xbox 360 fanboys in your article and no major software titles for September in your blog here. Hmm, so you never heard of the game called Halo; ODST? Well you don't need a Xbox 360 fanboy to tell you about it. In fact ANY gamer could tell you.
Also the PSP Go will sell well in the beginning. So did the Sega Saturn. There are those people out there who must get the newest thing. The real truth of the matter will be after Christmas when either it dies off to a slow death or Sony once again drops the price significantly like their other game platform to increase demand.
