A day in the life of a Game Tester.
- Monday, 26 July 2010
It does have its drawbacks thou; I know, I know the whole idea of playing a game and receiving a steady income for it boggles the mind but few people realize that shit can happen! It’s true that Bad Company multiplayer is fun even for 8 hours nonstop, but after 8 hours of Monopoly… or Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince my mates and I had this to say: WE QUIT!
I’ll save you the trouble of Googleing Battlefield Bad Company… it’s a Electronic Arts title and one of the few good ones in my opinion, it doesn’t revolutionize the genre but it sucked a lot less in terms of story and plot then all other EA titles. But that’s not the point, I was a tester for EA Games! Going in on the 1st day of the job I was thinking: Shit I’ll have to test Fifa ++ or another Need For Speed…
To my surprise I was assigned to Battlefield Bad Company. YAHOO, I get to knife and teabag my mates! To my surprise a few PGL (professional gamers league) player where employed there to, you can imagine who got teabaged. The point I’m trying to make is that my view of EA was a bit narrow and I got screwed because of it… EA produces a lot of titles and I do mean A LOT including casual gamer crap that’s a pain to play for more that 10 to 30 minutes.
I have to admit that it was fun and exciting and a greater job for a slacker as myself there is none… sleeping on the job was my favorite pastime and a dude “Sonic” perfected the art of sleeping on the job using fraps and duct tape (transparent).
Step 1: Film 10 to 20 minutes of yourself playing.
Step 2: Run the film on a loop.
Step 3: Tape your arms to the mouse, keyboard and desk.
Step 4: Sunglasses! And sleep tight.
