PS3 is the best console for Tweens (Age 10-12)

Tweens are a mixed group of people, at around this age they start to out grow the Wii, and like violent video games. A lot of parents don’t want their tween to play violent games yet, and wish to wait till teens or later before letting them buy games like Killzone 2. Because of this, tweens are greatly restricted to certain games, and can’t get the full violent experience without having parental permission.
While the PS3 does have a lot of M rated games, it also provides the best hardcore experience outside of the M rating. There is a ton of hardcore PS3 games that are more than suitable for the younger crowd. Games like Little Big Planet give the tweens a great experience full of action and puzzles without being violent, and is more suitable for their audience than Mario. It also helps boost their creative skills, thanks to the level editor.
The PS3 also has some good shooters that stay under the M rating, and are more than fine for their age group. Ratchet and Clank features fast paced action loaded with insanely powerful guns, and lots of humor they can understand. Kids are always looking to have the biggest gun, and this game allows them to have just that. Another great shooter that stays under the M rating is M.A.G, which is a tactical shooter that has the T rating. This game is not violent at all, featuring no blood, but still retains the look and feeling of war.
There are also many other fighting games that appeal to the younger crowd, such as Fat Princess, and Rag Doll Kung-Fu, that further allow your tween to play the games he wants too, without being scared for life by sheer violence. The PS3 is simply the best experience for tweens.

Of course, and thats exactly why the average age of a gta player is around 12. I mean, children never play games which are beyond their age limit do they?

why even right this article?? tat is the opposite compared to what we need. if anything we should keep the little kids on the wii. MW2 is already over populated with little kids, and u want to push more. ugh they will get cod and their shrill voices will take over. dont edge them on

As long as parental controls are set, it shouldn't be an issue. Probably worth adding some info on setting them into the article as well though, as there is definitely a huge amount of content not for tweens on the PS3/360, and a lot of parents can miss the 'ole age limiters.

...the tween in question feels Ninty games are a bit 'kiddy' (deffo my view - Wii games seem to be either for 5 year olds (Mario, Zelda) or try too hard to be mature (No More Heroes, Madworld). The Metroid Prime games are a notable exception). But many adults still get into Ninty games, although I personally find their game design these days tends to be a bit last millenium.
Other PS3 games that Tweens could (beyond those already listed above) enjoy include ModNation Racers, Buzz: Quiz TV/World, Singstar, Everybody's Golf: World Tour, and a bunch of PSN titles.
However, all is not list if you're on the 360. Viva Pinata and its sequel are solid, and from what I hear Lips is reasonable, and there are a bunch of multi-platform games (available on both PS3 and 360, and sometimes on Wii as well) like the rock band/guitar hero games, the Lego games (Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Harry Potter, Batman), Toy Story 3, Up, Kung Fu Panda and Sega All-Stars Racing.
So a tween is likely to be well-catered for whatever console you end up with, although I'm a huge fan of Ratchet and Clank (it's a better platformer and a far better story than the Super Mario Galaxy games from my angle, and it's got a bunch of great combat to boot), so would back the PS3 on the strength of that alone.

I am 13 and I have been playing gta and CoD since I was 10/11. Seriously, what 10-12 year old is going 2 B scared by violence. Everyone in my cla*s has been playing CoD since they were 10/11 just like I have and no-one has been expelled from my school for violence since 1983. I am positive that more than half of the people who play 18 rated games are under 18.
