The Way of Salvation

( 1 Vote ) Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (John 14:6)

It states in the Bible that only those who are redeemed (or bought back from sin) will enter heaven. Those who have confessed Jesus as Lord and believed that God raised HIM from the dead.

Revelation 21:27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.

And those who are not found written in the book await this:

The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is. (Revelation of John 17:8)

And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. (Revelation of John 20:12)

And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. (Revelation of John 20:15)

The first thing a person simply need do to be saved is to recognize they deserve to die because of their sin. The one thief on the cross next to Jesus proved this. Here's that account:

39 And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.
40 But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?
41 And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.
42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.
43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.
44 And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour.
45 And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst. 46 ¶And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.

The fellow said "we receive the due reward of our deeds" or in other words, "we deserve death for what we've done."

Notice, he also called Jesus LORD and simply said "remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom" and Jesus promised him a home in heaven. Notice what he DIDN'T have to do. Jesus didn't tell him to be baptized, take communion, attend a church or any of the other things religions add on. Don't get me wrong, all the things I mentioned are good things and actually commands that we should hold to after we are saved but they ARE NOT required for salvation.

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; (Romans 3:23)

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 6:23)

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Romans 10:9,10,13)
