What inspired the creation of the company
Chris Lee: Back in 2006, Free-to-Play was still a new business model in the western market, even though it was already very popular in Asia. We believed that the F2P business model was the future and would grow exponentially, even in the western market, where people had to pay $50 to purchase a packaged game.
Eugene Kim: For me, it began while I was attending school in the States. I was a hardcore gamer and would often go gaming with many of my American friends. When I returned to Korea, I developed online RTS and MMORPG games and was able to come into contact with a number of users from various countries. Among those, the North American market was the most difficult to target, and it was very challenging to create a game that I could be sure American gamers would really enjoy.
In order to better understand exactly what sort of games American users wanted, it became clear to me that it would be necessary to go to America and work directly with American gamers, breathe the same air, so to speak, in order to publish and develop games that we meet the needs of American users.
It was around this time that I met Chris Lee(now CEO of SGI). We shared a single vision and hope and with that established the company in September 2006. We
